My friend. My drum!

I want to introduce a friend of mine. A dear and very special friend who means a great deal to me.
Meet my drum!

We go on many journeys together, just the two of us. She was hand made for me two years ago by a wonderful couple who live in the New Forest. The skin is Reindeer with a cedar hoop. They also made a rattle from the same piece of animal skin so its lovely to have these twinned tools.

This drum is not just a musical instrument, although it does very well in that role. My drum is also a tool of healing, of reaching beyond the veil and journeying through the tunnel to other worlds. Interestingly the rate of the drumbeat that induces journeying is also the same as the vibrational pulse of the universe. Interesting huh?

I admit I didn’t realise what a special relationship I would have with this beautiful drum. With its deep rich voice it soothes the soul. I am honoured to be its caretaker and look forward to many more special journeys and healing ceremonies with it. It may be a ceremonial tool but the spirit of the animal, who’s skin gives it voice, is a friend. I treasure that relationship!

    1. Thank you so much for your reply Mary!

I also love the voice of thunder. I crave storms in the summer time but we rarely get much. A singing bowl is a wonderfull tool. So cleansing with their higher vibrational sound.
Im a singer too and worked professinaly for a time. I trained in classical as a kid but then lent towards funk, jazz, pop, new country and rock.
The voice is such a powerfull tool. Never underestimate it. 😉

      1. Aha! I also sang professionally for quite a while.I sang classical mostly and pop music.. First I sang with the Hawaii Opera Theater (HOT), then with the Washington National Opera (WNO) in Washington, D.C. for 13 years.
Voice is extremely powerful, especially when combined with words sung with intention Singing is the first thing that I usually turn to when I am feeling sad. http://storieswithnobooks.com/2014/12/19/voice-the-sound-of-a-soul/
